It's hard to imagine your life without denim, we wear it so much without even realising from denim jackets and skirts to your old faithful jeans. Jeans have been worn for over 100 years and we can't see a day when they go out of fashion.

Although blue jeans have and always will be the classic, today we have so many different shades of blue denim as well as every other colour of the rainbow. Here's our guide to the different colours of denim and jeans we love.

Stonewash

The classic light blue colour that we all know and love, perfect for a casual look and can be worn with everything, from jeans to denim jackets and so much more.

Bleached denim

A very light shade of blue that has a bleached effect look and is a recent fashion trend often with a lightly shade down the centre of the jeans.

Acid wash

A throwback from the 80s that's certainly making a comeback, acid wash denim has a very bleached look to the extent that they almost look white.

Distressed

Denim just gets better with age and that's why distressed jeans have become so popular, the odd rip and scuff adds lots of character and especially popular with today's fashions.

Vintage

A faded shade of blue denim that is muted to give a hint of aging and distressed, and has recently become popular with the rise of retro and boho trends.

Indigo

A heavily dyed denim with a deep blue colour that gives a much smarter appearance than other styles, which makes them ideal for smarter and more formal occasions.

Coloured

With everything 80s back in fashion, coloured jeans have also made a comeback and you'll find many intensely dyed denim in bold colours like red and blue.

White denim

Recently the choice of denim for feminine girls in the summer, white denim looks lovely as skinny jeans or a white denim jacket with floral prints.

Black denim

Previously seen as a denim colour for rock chicks or biker babes, black denim has recently become mainstream and is now favoured by people dressed up with heels for a night out.

Embellished

From studding and jewels to glitter and sequins, denim has seen the recent craze of embellishments to turn casual clothing into glamorous pieces.

My Search For Fashionable Plus Size Maternity Wear



I have been browsing over the plus size maternity wear categories in the online maternity wear stores for our plus size mums to be and have found plenty of plus size lingerie that includes plus size maternity bras, plus size nursing bras and an adequate number of plus size tummy support items at shops like Destination Maternity, Pea In The Pod and Motherhood which is all good because they are the most important items you need during and after your pregnancy.

 

I was also quite impressed with the variety of stylish plus size maternity bottoms including plus size jeans, plus size maternity pants and plus size maternity leggings at these stores and they do look great with any fashionable top and can be worn in a number of ways either dressed up or just casual. Then I progressed to the plus size maternity tops category and I must say I was a little  disappointed with the limited number of plus size maternity tops available for our plus sizes to choose from and even more dissapoined with the range of plus size sweaters and plus size cardigans that consisted of just  "6" including a couple in granny styles. 

 

Moving on I searched lots of different sites for plus size maternity dresses as from past efforts I know this category is really lacking in quantity and style as the most I was able to find at destination maternity was only "5" plus size maternity dresses and only one suitable for our younger plus sizes. This was the same scenario at the all the other online maternity wear stores I check out and I really hope our plus size designers pick up on this sadly neglected group of ladies in waiting.

 

Then I checked out Light In The Box where I found a couple of beautiful plus size maternity dresses in their bridal section that could easily worn to any special occasion or event. They also tailor make these dresses to your measurements at no extra cost so this is an excellent option for plus sizes and most dresses are around the $100 mark. The interesting thing was that although Light In the Box carries a trendy range of plus size maternity wear and I was able to find some I noticed they had about 6 pages of plus size maternity dresses that were sold out so lets hope they get some new stock in soon. After checking out Light In The Box I kept on searching the net for more plus size maternity shops online with some variety in plus size maternity wear and in more up to date fashion than I had previously seen and bingo it happened, I clicked on Nicole Maternity and wow look what I found below and there are plenty more.
